This comprehensive five week class is designed to build your confidence in your cancer survivorship journey.

These topic are adapted to address the needs specific for cancer survivors with Head/Neck Cancer. Topics that will be covered include:

  • Speech, Dental and Oral Care 
  • Nutrition, Swallowing's & Feeding Tube Challenges
    • Cooking Demonstration
  • Lymphedema & Exercise
  • Smoking Implications and Cessation Tips
  • Late & Long-term Side Effects

These classes will be recorded to allow other cancer survivors, who could not attended, to watch the pre-recorded classes. The videographer will stop recording during the open discussions at the end of each class.

Registration is required. Due to limited class sizes, please confirm that you will be able to make the classes you register for.

*While you may come to only selective classes/days, we highly recommend registering for the entire educational series.

    Jessie Glanz, RDN, MS, CD, LDN, is a dedicated clinical oncology dietitian at Ascension All Saints in Racine. A proud graduate of Iowa State University for her undergraduate studies, Jessie's passion for nutrition led her to pursue a Master's degree in nutrition from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Driven by her unwavering commitment to supporting individuals battling cancer, Jessie has spent the last three years fully immersed in the oncology population. Her journey has always been guided by a profound belief in the transformative power of nutrition on treatment outcomes. Specializing in working with the head and neck population, Jessie brings both expertise and empathy to her practice. With her compassionate approach and extensive knowledge, she strives to empower her patients to optimize their health and well-being through tailored nutritional interventions. Through her dedication and advocacy, she continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of her patients, one meal at a time.

    Sue Cobb, OTR, CLT-LANA, is also a Certified Wound Therapist. She is LANA Certified (Lymphology Association of North America) and has been practicing for over 30 years. She has spent 32 of those years with Ascension. She has worked in acute care, OP, orthopedics, and lymphedema. Sue also completed specialty training with Norton School of Lymphedema in head and neck patients, and this is her specialty area of practice. She sees lymphedema patients at Elmbrook Medical Center Office Building in Brookfield.

    Jennifer Minessale, MSN, APNP, AOCNP, is an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Ascension Medical Group. Ms. Minessale is board-certified in the care of adult patients as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP). She completed the City of Hope's Cancer Genomics Intensive course.

    Deanna Birling is an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Ascension Medical Group. Deanna is board-certified in the care of adult patients as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner(AOCNP). Deanna has worked in oncology for over 25 years, the majority of those in Radiation Oncology where she provides survivorship care to patients that have completed treatment for cancer. She has also completed the City of Hope's Cancer genomics course as well as training for tobacco cessation and sees patients for smoking cessation.
